Paula Delence Denton is one of the three main mascots of the remix tree, along with Avocado Ian (her brother) and Toast Michaelwaver. She was the OC of an unknown Scratch user who was added to the remix world by fishfritters due to the machinations of Xx_warriercatz_xX. Casual and upfront, she is willing to take charge of the situation when needed.

Stand

Crazy Remic

Paula's Stand, Crazy Remic, can remix objects and people. It has the appearance of a simplified, green and gray version of Crazy Diamond from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, as well as horns and heart- and star-shaped epaulettes.

It has the ability to "remix" whatever it punches to create something new. Paula doesn't seem to be able to control the exact result of the remix, but rather it's based on a broad-strokes goal; for instance, when she remixed Avocado Ian's dead body with the intention of taking down Xx_warriercatz_xX, the result was a posthumous Stand of his named Jacie Denton who was able to help her take them down.

History

Creation

Paula was an OC created by an unknown Scratch user in real life, who submitted her to an OC reviewer on Scratch. The reviewer gave her a high rating, sparking jealousy in Matthew Rockefeller, whose OCs had received a low rating. Matthew decided to take revenge by trapping the highest-rated OCs inside a world of insanity; using their Stand, they created the remix tree, which contained a fictional universe where Paula and the other highest-rated OCs lived. From Paula's perspective, she had always lived in this fictional remix world, and now the absurdity was simply ramping up as the Scratch users portrayed more and more ridiculous things in their projects.

Childhood

At one point during Paula's childhood, she was watching TV, when Shannon came in and switched the channel to D Se Dab, a video featuring Chotu. Paula got upset and asked Shannon to turn the volume down, but Shannon refused. She and her brother Avocado Ian had repeat encounters with Shannon at school; during one incident, Shannon caused Paula to be incapacitated by an infection of 2018-era memes from Hollywood. Presumably, she was later cured with the milk retrieved by Avocado Ian, W.B. Mason, and Holly Wood, although this was never shown.

The insanity begins

In her home land, Paula was waiting for the bus at the bus stop with Ian and a stranger who she would later come to learn was named Toast. When the bus arrived, it simply flew away without picking any of them up.

Paula later found herself in a strange yellow void. She and Ian discovered an evil plot by Toast, who hypnotized Ian and made him attempt to kill her; however, she successfully defeated Toast, and the two siblings happily went onto another adventure. The three would go on to experience several other wacky remix shenanigans, such as:

• Going through a distorted version of the three's home universe
• Acting out Deus Ex memes
• Watching Ian inexplicably shoot Toast
• Acting out Deus Ex memes but in ASMR

After Ian defeated the Extinguisher of Suns, who had apparently been ravaging their homeland for centuries, they returned home together for a while. They would later return to the insanity of the remix tree; the two appeared with Killer Queen in a Five Nights at Freddy's parody, attacking the player. This trio would continue into the next few remices, where the three cosplayed Pillar Men from JoJo's, then characters from Shrek, and celebrated ZiqwerkelSharda's birthday. Paula was even featured in a clicker game focusing on Ian.

Crazy Noisy Showdown

One day, she, Ian, and Toast were hanging out at the Crazy Noisy Street Corner, and she struck up a conversation about Ian, which led to him revealing that he was in love with Anina. She was skeptical given Anina's previous murderous tendencies, but Ian was indifferent, and Toast didn't really understand the situation. Suddenly, they were approached by Xx_warriercatz_xX, who complained about how out of hand the remix tree had gotten; she took charge of the situation and summoned Crazy Remic.

Xx_warriercatz_xX shot Ian, claiming he was the source of the remix tree's chaos. Paula frantically remixed his dying body with Crazy Remic, which created a posthumous Stand named Jacie Denton. Jacie was able to cause a can to fly in Xx_warriercatz_xX's face, throwing them off for long enough that Paula could KO them with Crazy Remic.

Toast revived Ian with his Stand and the three then listened to Xx_warriercatz_xX rant about how they had been the one to create the remix tree in reality; Paula found it annoying, though, and requested Ian use Crazy Filthy Bizarre Echoes to fast-forward it. The three went to go get ham sandwiches, but were stopped by Killer Queen, who rewound time to Paula's childhood using Milkcan Bites the Dust.

Life in the remix world

Paula was part of a summoning circle enacted by the Dabmaster to create visual copies of himself and bring his power into the present time.

She saw Ian and Toast playing X-Plane, and got excited about the prospect of shipping the two; despite their protests, she willed their wedding ceremony into existence.

When Ian entered the dance floor, distorted versions of Paula and Toast were there to confront him, and that version of Paula turned into Vradia la Serket. She then visited her hometown along with her brother and Toast, and the three watched Airbus pass by.

Relationships

Anina Arquaz

Paula was hesitant of Ian and Anina's relationship, seeing as Anina had previously tried to kidnap and/or kill him. Paula's thoughts on Anina other than that are mostly unknown.

Guardian of the Portal

The Guardian captured Paula.

Avocado Ian

Paula and Ian are siblings, and the two hang out often along with Toast Michaelwaver, considering each other good friends. Paula has a lot of affection for the two of them, and tends to take control of situations involving the three; this can manifests as protectiveness in dangerous situations, or overenthusiastically shipping both Toast and Ian in spite of their wants.

Killer Queen

Killer Queen and Paula got along for a while, cosplaying and celebrating ZiqwerkelSharda's birthday together along with Avocado Ian. However, once the siblings started hanging out with Toast instead, Killer Queen got more antagonistic towards both of them, calling them "Lakewood Lozerz" and attempting to use its Stand against them.

Matthew Rockefeller

Paula was one of the OCs rated higher than Matthew's OC Gloryclaw, and as such was added to the remix tree in an act of hatred and vengeance by Matthew. When the two eventually met face-to-face, Paula was very confrontational with Matthew due to their general attitude towards the remix tree,, and after Matthew killed her brother she quickly KO'd Matthew. After that, Paula's attitude switched to sheer ambivalence towards Matthew, though Matthew still hated her and the other OCs.

Pico Pascal

Paula and Pico are friends.

Shannon

In her younger years, Shannon bullied Paula, ignoring Paula's wants and needs. They went to the same school, where Shannon terrorized her and Ian.

Toast Michaelwaver

Paula and Toast lived in the same place for a while, though if they knew each other at all, Ian was entirely unaware of it. When they got dragged into the remix tree's chaos, Toast initially positioned himself as an enemy of Paula and Ian; Toast and Paula then seemed to have some kind of a boss–employer dynamic, before the Denton siblings eventually switched gears to spend more time with Killer Queen as opposed to Toast.

The relationship between Paula and Toast eventually softened, and they became friends, hanging out lots, along with Ian. Paula acts as a leader of sorts in the friend group; she reassures the other two and takes charge when needed, though this also means she can be a bit gung-ho in her attitudes towards them, such as willing their wedding into existence even though they aren't interested.

• Her name in the code of r/CursedScratchProjects, her first appearance, was "gerard".
  • Because she originally had a masculine name, turtlehat headcanons her as transfeminine.
• She got her name after being featured in a parody of the Deus Ex Malkavian Mod, where she replaced a character named Paul Denton; the name was genderswapped since the plural of remix is remices had previously confirmed her to use she/her pronouns.
• Both Avocado Ian and Paula's middle names are based on the D'Arby brothers from JoJo's, taking the first name of one of them and replacing the first letter with another one of their initials. Ian's is taken from "Daniel J. D'Arby", while Paula's is taken from "Telence T. D'Arby" (purposefully using a strange romanization of "Terrence"). Daniel Delence Darby's name references the same characters.
• Her main personality was first featured in Despito the Musical - Vanilla on Ice! HD 180p Trailer, an explicit parody of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable. Paula was based on the JoJo's character Josuke Higashikata, thus her upfront personality.
