Matthew Rockefeller, often known by their purported DeviantArt username Xx_warriercatz_xX, is the in-universe creator of [WARRIORS AMV] Despacito :3, and by extension the remix tree and remix world as a whole. They are very passionate about their Warrior Cats OCs, especially Pianolove and Gloryclaw. While they tend to be very serious and grumpy in person, they come across as much more chatty, emotional, and sometimes even bubbly in text form.

Born in the remix world but fed up by its illogical nature, they escaped to real life, only to inadvertently create the tree with their Stand; shocked by the realization that they had created the very world they hated, they became antagonistic and violent towards its residents. Eventually, they came to begrudgingly accept the remix world, and returned to it, christening themself Remix Master Matthew.

Face the Consequences

For more information, see Face the Consequences's dedicated page.

Matthew formerly controlled a sentient Stand called Face the Consequences, before it eventually separated itself from them. It takes the form of a poorly-drawn face, and has the ability to control people who see it and make them do what Matthew wants, but only in an extremely roundabout and unpredictable manner. For instance, when tasked with making certain OCs go insane, it did so by influencing Scratch users to create the ridiculous world of the remix tree and add those OCs to it.[1]

According to Matthew, Face the Consequences is a "digital Stand" and is only able to exist in the remix world. Thus, it cannot manifest in real life, although it can influence people there – thus, when Matthew's digital avatar was run over with an ambulance, it was destroyed, even though Matthew was still able to exist in real life.[2] However, given that it separated from Matthew before their digital avatar's destruction, these claims are impossible to verify.[3]

History

A young Matthew declares their aspirations, standing next to their uncle.[4]

Origins

Matthew was born in the remix world on November 25,[5] 1937, and was assigned male at birth, using he/him pronouns. They came up with their Warrior Cats OCs, Pianolove and Gloryclaw, by the time they were seven, as well as the username "Xx_warriercatz_xX".[4]

Genesis of the remix tree

They somehow later escaped to real life, and lived there for a time. While they were in real life, they frequented Scratch, and in February 2018, submitted their OC Gloryclaw to be rated by a Scratch OC reviewer. She gave Gloryclaw a 1/10, throwing Matthew into a vengeful fit. They decided to take revenge on the highest-rated OCs:[1] Avocado Ian, Paula Denton, Toast Michaelwaver, Killer Queen, and Anina Arquaz.[2] Specifically, their goal became to make these OCs all slowly go insane, and they decided to use their Stand to do it.[1]

Face the Consequences used its powers of subconscious manipulation to cause ZiqwerkelSharda to create the first remix.[1] It claimed to be a Warriors AMV featuring Pianolove and Gloryclaw by someone with the DeviantArt username Xx_warriercatz_xX; in actuality, all of this was a lie, and that DeviantArt account didn't even exist (yet). In reality, the project contained a depiction of Face the Consequences in the remix world screaming,[6] which in turn caused iangecko, turtlehat, and others to make more remices.[1] The remices portrayed a fictional world, and Matthew came to realize that it was the very world they had so longingly tried to escape from: the remix world. Indeed, the first remix was set in Consequence City; from the perspective of those in the remix world, the world had always existed, and Face the Consequences was just now appearing in the city.[7]

The remix tree continued to grow and get sillier, still without including many of the characters that Matthew had sworn revenge against. While seemingly unable or just unwilling to enter the remix tree physically, they were able to intervene by using a digital avatar to enter the remix world.[2] Once there, they attempted to end the tree by creating the AMV to bring things full circle, but quickly became bored and fell asleep listening to ASMR.[8]

Crazy Noisy Showdown

Matthew confronts Paula and her friends.[9]

Eventually, they decided that the chaos of their world had gone on long enough, and that it was time to put the main OCs out of their misery (or at least what Matthew perceived as misery). They fabricated a story about Ian being the source of the chaos so they wouldn't have to let on the truth,[1] and made their way to the Crazy Noisy Street Corner while Paula, Ian, and Toast were hanging out there. Once there, they expressed their frustration with the remix world's chaos[9], and claimed to have concluded that Ian was the source of it due to his tapes, which proved that he remembered everything. Claiming to want to stop the chaos at its source, they shot Ian, and aimed their gun at Paula next; however, Paula used her Stand Crazy Remic to remix Ian's dead body, creating a posthumous Stand named Jacie Denton. Jacie caused a can to fly at Matthew, throwing them off for long enough for Paula to KO them with Crazy Remic.[10]

Laying on the ground badly injured, they decided it was time to come clean. They explained everything about how the tree had been created and why, and gloated about their plan having worked and seemingly driven the remix cast insane. The trio didn't care, though, and Ian even fast-forwarded through their rant at the request of Paula.[1] While Matthew was ranting, Face the Consequences subconsciously convinced them to let go of their Stand, thereby making it independent.[3] By the end of the rant, Matthew's digital self was run over by an ambulance, blocking them from existing in remix world.[1]

Stuck in real life

With their digital avatar destroyed, Matthew was stuck in real life. With nothing else to do, they soon made a DeviantArt account under the name Xx-warriercatz-xX (underscores can't go in DeviantArt usernames) and started posting there, explaining everything that had happened,[11], and talking about the details of their OCs.[12] They posted art and even created several new OCs, such as Flowerglory,[13] Flowermanly,[14] and the vent OCs Pauladumb, Toastface, and Avocadostink.[15]

The remix tree would continue to distort the events of the Crazy Noisy Showdown, and the version of Matthew depicted in those events turned into Matthew from Fire Emblem,[16] and then into Melone.[17]

Return to the remix world

Matthew returned to the remix world with shiny new they/them pronouns and a brand new digital avatar as Remix Master Matthew, seemingly having had a change of heart about the remix tree. They urged the remixers to make a good anniversary project,[18] and made other recommendations about what to do with the main branch.[19]

Trivia

Relationships

Anina Arquaz

Anina was one of the highest-rated OCs by the reviewer that gave Gloryclaw a 1, so Matthew holds a vengeance against her and was the one to cause her to be put in the remix tree.[2] However, they've never met in person.

Avocado Ian

Matthew hates Ian due to being rated so highly above their own OC Gloryclaw, and brought him into the remix tree as a form of revenge; though upset by the chaos of the tree at first, Ian eventually got used to it.[1] However, the two maintain a strained relationship, with Ian mostly seeing Matthew as a threat. The main encounter between the two saw Matthew outright killing Ian,[10] and after the traumatic experience was over, Ian seemed uninterested in Matthew more than anything else.[1] Seeing as Matthew softened on the remix world over time,[7] they probably have a more mild opinion of Ian these days, but Ian still recoils at their name.[20]

Killer Queen

Though KQ was one of the five OCs that Matthew swore vengeance against and trapped inside the remix tree,[2] the two have never interacted personally.

Paula Denton

Paula was one of the OCs rated higher than Matthew's OC Gloryclaw, and as such was added to the remix tree in an act of hatred and vengeance by Matthew.[1] When the two eventually met face-to-face, Paula was very confrontational with Matthew due to their general attitude towards the remix tree,[9], and after Matthew killed her brother she quickly KO'd Matthew.[10] After that, Paula's attitude switched to sheer ambivalence towards Matthew,[1] though Matthew still hated her and the other OCs.[2]

Toast Michaelwaver

Matthew hates Toast, Toast being one of the five highest-rated OCs that they swore vengeance against and trapped in the remix tree.[2] When the two met in person, Toast was more confused than anything else about Matthew's motives, and just went along with how the others were reacting.[9] However, he was without a doubt unsettled by Matthew's brief murdering of Avocado Ian.[10]
