is this even tennis anymore is a project in the remix tree, and the eighteenth in the main branch. It isn't part of the main string of projects that largely comprises the main branch, but it is considered a main branch project due to the intentions in creating it.

Summary

In a distorted grassy landscape, a bus controlled by the player drives by Avocado Ian, who says "shut your mouth when you're eating", then by Toast, who mentions his toaster turned off and asks how he can do the same, and finally Paula, who says "do you know the Gordon Freeman?" The bus then has a vision of Fire Emblem and flies into the air, where everything goes dark. The player is then transported into another world, where they view a strange pattern of copies of Anna, and walk across a floating stone structure in a void. They encounter a portal surrounded by bricks, and must find a piece of the portal to repair it; once they do, the Annas reappear, and they must un-drink a glass of red liquid. Finally, the viewer must complete the captcha "soggy sandwiches", and they are brought to the ending, where a mashup between a gloob(ic) song and a JoJo's song is played.

Trivia

  • Some sound effects and music in this project were included as part of a challenge. When turtlehat messaged ZiqwerkelSharda with a bunch of stock sounds from Scratch 1.4, she challenged him to include all the ones he had sent in his next remix. These include "Peculiar," "SeaLion," "Slurp," "Techno1," and "Techno2."
  • Ian's line is a reference to the children's poem "Shut Your Mouth When You Are Eating" by Michael Rosen.
  • As mentioned in the Notes and Credits, the gameplay, aesthetics, and atmosphere of the point-and-click section are meant to emulate the Submachine series of Flash games, especially Submachine 4 and 7. Some sound effects were even ripped directly from Submachine 4.
    • The grey stone location is based on the ancient section from Submachine 4 and the Winter Palace from Submachine 7. The red brick location is based on the lighthouse dungeon from Submachine 2.
    • On the bottom-left of the first screen are some runes resembling a sequence found in some of the Submachine games. The runes themselves are not the same because turtlehat forgot what they looked like.
    • The blue flower on the second screen is meant to emulate fluorescent plants found in Submachine 7.
    • The portal is based on the Lab portal from Submachine 4 and 5. The electrical arcs it makes when activated form a peace sign.
  • The Notes and Credits initially misattribute the music to The Thumpmonks, the band behind most of the music in the Submachine series. The two music tracks used in this section of the project were selected by turtlehat for their resemblance to the music from the Submachine games, despite not being made by The Thumpmonks themselves.
  • If the user types "soggy sandviches" in the captcha instead of "soggy sandwiches," the voice of the Heavy Weapons Guy from Team Fortress 2 will correct them, saying "No! 'Sandwich,' not 'sandvich!'"
