Paula Delence Denton is one of the three main mascots of the remix tree, along with Avocado Ian, her brother, and Toast Michaelwaver. She was the OC of an unknown Scratch user who was added to the remix world by fishfritters due to the machinations of Xx_warriercatz_xX.

Stand

Crazy Remic

Paula's Stand, Crazy Remic, can remix objects and people. It has the appearance of a simplified, green and gray version of Crazy Diamond from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, as well as horns and heart- and star-shaped epaulettes.

It has the ability to "remix" whatever it punches to create something new. Paula doesn't seem to be able to control the exact result of the remix, but rather it's based on a broad-strokes goal; for instance, when she remixed Avocado Ian's dead body with the intention of taking down Xx_warriercatz_xX, the result was a posthumous Stand of his named Jacie Denton who was able to help her take them down.

Personality

The Crazy Noisy Showdown demonstrated that Paula is very casual and upfront, and can take control of the situation when needed.[2]

History

Creation

Paula was an OC created by an unknown Scratch user in real life, who submitted her to an OC reviewer on Scratch. The reviewer gave her a high rating, sparking jealousy in Matthew Rockefeller, whose OCs had received a low rating. Matthew decided to take revenge by trapping the highest-rated OCs inside a world of insanity; using their Stand, they created the remix tree, which contained a fictional universe where Paula and the other highest-rated OCs lived. From Paula's perspective, she had always lived in this fictional remix world, and now the absurdity was simply ramping up as the Scratch users portrayed more and more ridiculous things in their projects.[3]

The insanity begins

In her home land, Paula was waiting for the bus at the bus stop with her brother Ian and a stranger who she would later come to learn was named Toast. When the bus arrived, it simply flew away without picking any of them up.[1]

Paula later found herself in a strange yellow void. She and Ian discovered an evil plot by Toast, who hypnotized Ian and made him attempt to kill her; however, she successfully defeated Toast, and the two siblings happily went onto another adventure.[4] The three would go on to experience several other wacky remix shenanigans, such as:

  • Going through a distorted version of the three's home universe[5]
  • Acting out Deus Ex memes[6]
  • Watching Ian inexplicably shoot Toast[6]
  • Acting out Deus Ex memes but in ASMR[7]

After Ian defeated the Extinguisher of Suns, who had apparently been ravaging their homeland for centuries, they returned home together for a while.[8] They would later return to the insanity of the remix tree; the two appeared with Killer Queen in a Five Nights at Freddy's parody, attacking the player.[9] This trio would continue into the next few remices, where the three cosplayed Pillar Men from JoJo's[10], then characters from Shrek[11], and celebrated ZiqwerkelSharda's birthday.[12] Paula was even featured in a clicker game focusing on Ian.[13]

One day, she, Ian, and Toast were hanging out at the Crazy Noisy Street Corner, and she struck up a conversation about Ian, which led to him revealing that he was in love with Anina. She was skeptical given Anina's previous murderous tendencies, but Ian was indifferent, and Toast didn't really understand the situation.[14] Suddenly, they were approached by Xx_warriercatz_xX, who complained about how out of hand the remix tree had gotten; she took charge of the situation and summoned Crazy Remic.[2]

Xx_warriercatz_xX shot Ian, claiming he was the source of the remix tree's chaos. Paula frantically remixed his dying body with Crazy Remic, which created a posthumous Stand named Jacie Denton. Jacie was able to cause a can to fly in Xx_warriercatz_xX's face, throwing them off for long enough that Paula could KO them with Crazy Remic – though as Jacie was in the "World of the Dead" at the time, it's unclear how aware of Jacie's existence Paula was at the time.[15]

Trivia

  • Her name in the code of r/CursedScratchProjects, her first appearance, was "gerard".
  • She got her name after being featured in a parody of the Deus Ex Malkavian Mod, where she replaced a character named Paul Denton.
  • Both Avocado Ian and Paula's middle names are based on the D'Arby brothers from JoJo's, taking the first name of one of them and replacing the first letter with another one of their initials. Ian's is taken from "Daniel J. D'Arby", while Paula's is taken from "Telence T. D'Arby" (purposefully using a strange romanization of "Terrence".
