Melone's best friend Joutaro has an intensely inimical relationship with Dio, and while it's unclear how Melone feels about Dio, it's hard to believe it doesn't carry over. Dio himself is antagonistic towards Melone as he is towards Joutaro; he messed with a dimension the friends were traversing,[1] and later actually killed Melone.[2]
